William Enoch Hallett was born to Enoch Hallett (1837–1885) and Esther Ann Peck (1839–1899) in Hillsdale, Michigan on October 12, 1866. Hallett married Ada Amelia Davis (1867–1954) on October 11, 1890. To the union three daughters were born Fern Estelle (1891-1981), Leah Winifred (Peg) (1893–1989), and Esther Elizabeth (1896–1986). He was an engineer for the Alamo Manufacturing Company and designed the first Alamo Engine. While employed with the Hall Gas Engine Company he developed a heavy-duty gas engine. His last position was divisional chief engineer for the Hayes Wheel Company in Albion Michigan. Hallett died on May 8, 1932 in his home in Hillsdale, Michigan of heart disease at the age of sixty-six.
