Biographical

Biographical
Lawrence Robe Batchelor was born on August 11, 1887, in Montréal, Quebec, Canada, to Marie Adeline Marcoux (1852-1914) and Alexander Batchelor (1843-1917). Batchelor had four sisters, Alice Agnes (1888-1969); Millia (b. 1890); Amelia (1891-1967); and Mary Victoria (1893-1949); and three brothers, Alexander Thomas (1885-1947); Albert W. (1886–1955); and Walter John (1893-1918). Batchelor served in the military from 1914 to 1918. He married Rosa Céline Saison in Ames, Pas-de-Calais, France, on April 27, 1918. He and his wife had two children, Lorne Colborne Saison (b. 1920) and Bernice (b. 1925).
Batchelor was a Canadian artist and illustrator who did commercial work for various Canadian and government agencies.
