Donald Fred Parker was a naval flight officer assigned to the ship's company of the USS Kearsarge (CV-33), the ship that recovered the Mercury MA-8 Flight Sigma 7 and Mercury MA-9 Flight Faith 7. This collection contains two letters written by Parker that include a first person account of the recovery operations, as well as a "Family Gram" newsletter for ths ship that also includes a detailed description of the Mercury MA-8 recovery.

Fred Noonan (1893-1937) was a Merchant Marine officer and navigator who disappeared on July 2, 1937 with Amelia Earhart during their failed around-the-world flight attempt. This collection consists of a telegram, dated April 8, 1937, sent by Fred Noonan to a friend, Matt Neehan; a photograph of Noonan and his first wife, Josephine; and three news clippings dating from 1966-1970 regarding the disappearance of Amelia Earhart and Noonan.

Mohawk Airlines was founded in 1945 as Robinson Aviation and was based out of Ithaca Municipal Airport in New York. C. Hadley Smith (1910-2004) began taking photographs at age five and received formal training in photography at the Patuxent River Naval Air Base where he served as a Photographer's Mate First Class during World War II. After the war, he began his career as a commercial photographer in Ithaca, New York. One of his clients was Robinson Aviation, later Mohawk Airlines. This collection consists of approximately 250 images taken by C. Hadley Smith pertaining to Mohawk Airlines, and a few from their predecessor Robinson Aviation.

Curtiss Field was located in Garden City, Long Island on the site of what was originally part of Hazelhurst Field. Alfred H. Nelson was a licensed Aircraft & Engine mechanic at Curtiss Field in the 1920s. This collection consists of six black and white and sepia-toned photographs taken at Curtiss Field during that timeframe.
