The Weldon B. This collection consists mostly of photographs of AEF aircraft and crews on the field, with photos both loose and in a scrapbook. Documents and unit patches are also to be found in these materials. Folder 1: Includes Benson's AEF identity card, a clipping and photo of Benson, seemingly taken from a scrapbook, and various photographs of World War I aircraft such as the DH-4 and Salmson 2, along with crews. Each image in this folder is accompanied by a 4x5" negative. Folder 2: Approximately 50 loose photographs of various sizes of World War I units and their air crews on the field. Folder 3: Documentary materials (approximately 40 pages) including letters of recommendation, an officer's record book, sugar permit, and discharge certificate. Folder 4: Photo album commemorating AEF members (approximately 50 photos). Endpapers have various uniform insignia affixed, both that of the Allied forces and of the Central Powers. Note: Folder 4 includes small 1 3/4x2 3/4" photo of Ruth Law beside wing strut, in uniform.

Dr. Joseph Victor Foa (1909-1996, born Giuseppe Vittorio Foa) was an aeronautical engineer, aircraft designer, research scientist, and university professor. This collection includes photographs of Dr. Foa and the aircraft he worked on between 1935 and 1938 in Italy at the Studio Caproni Reggio Emilia and later Piaggio & Co. where he designed the Piaggio P.23R and the Reggiane Ca 405 Procellaria. Photographs of the Piaggio P.23R show both the initial design (1935) and the second design (September 1938). One photo shows the Piaggio P.32-II in March 1937. A group of photos taken in July 1937 show the Reggiane Ca 405 Procellaria; these two aircraft were built for an Istres-Damascus-Paris race held in August 1937, but were not finished in time to enter.

The first American-built rigid airship to use helium, the USS Shenandoah (ZR-1, commissioned 1923) was destroyed in a squall on September 3, 1925, with the bulk of the airship crashing near Ava, Ohio; this collection consists of 22 negatives taken at the site of crash.
