Captured German and Japanese Aviation Technical Documents
This collection consists of the Air Force master microfilm of captured German and Japanese documents pertaining to aviation. The documents cover a wide variety of subjects, including aircraft and engines, flight test reports, proposals, and engineering studies. English translation is provided for some documents.
Peenemunde Document Collection
This collection consists of Peenemunde documents, including the following: memorandums, correspondence, telegrams, and reports. These documents are in German, and some of the documents have signatures of General Dornberger, Wernher von Braun, and Hermann Oberth. This collection also contains a few translated documents from the Wright Field Collection.
Apollo Milton Olin (A. M. O.) Smith Papers
This collection consists of the significant writings of Smith, including writings relating to his contributions to boundary layer theory. The collection also includes Smith's notebooks and related photographs of his post-World War II on-site appraisal of Nazi aeronautical developments.
George Meese Photography Collection
This collection consists of 46 polaroid photographs, 412 negatives and 1,466 prints taken by George Meese from the mid-1920s until the late 1930s. Captured German Technical Documents (Technical Intelligence Center Film)
This collection consists of microfilmed translations of documents which were captured in Germany and compiled and microfilmed by the US Navy. The documents cover a variety of topics including long-range bombers, aircraft propulsion, infrared research, optics, turbomachines, flutter research, torpedoes, radar, as well as other technical topics.
World War I German Aviation Photographs
The World War I German Aviation Photographs Collection consists of images of a number of subjects relating to World War I German aviation. Included in the collection are photographs of personalities such as Captain Oswald Boelke and General Ernst Udet, images of aircraft (mostly German), including various types of Fokker, Farman, Nieuport, Vickers and Bristol aircraft, and contemporary aerial photography. It should be noted that the collection is entirely in German, including the captions that are written on the reverse of many of the photographs.
Captured German Aeronautical Documents (CGD) Microfilm
Collection of microfilmed translations of captured German documents mainly relating to supersonic research, swept-back wings, jet-propulsion, patents, explosives, ballistics, missiles, compressors, and other aeronautical subjects.
Peenemünde Interviews Project
This collection consists of the oral history recordings and transcripts for the Peenemünde Interviews Project, which examined the development of the German Peenemünde complex from the early 1930s through World War II.
Captain Walter J. Seaborn World War I Collection
This collection consists of original papers documenting Captain Walter Seaborn's World War I service, especially his duties relating to the Army Air Service's evaluation, procurement, and transfer of German aircraft and equipment to the United States after the war. The following types of material are included in the collection: correspondence, memorandums, reports, photographs, passenger lists, resumes, supply receipts, rosters, notes, publications, and military orders. There is also a photocopy of letters, photographs, and documents, bound in a book entitled "The Seaborn Family 1882-1972." This book contains information about Captain Seaborn and his family.
