The collection documents Conger's career as a painter and details his business dealings and involvement with Chicago's art community through biographical material, personal and professional correspondence, writings including artmaking journals and notes, and personal business records documenting commissions and sales. The collection is an important part of the historical record of the railroad car-building industry as well as the history of architecture and interior design.
