Niagara Falls Power Company Photographs
The collection consists of bound photograph albums and loose photographs documenting the construction of the Adams Power Station (hydroelectric plant) and allied structures of the Niagara Falls Power Company, 1899-1919.
Hales Bar Dam Collection
The Hales Bar Dam was built on the Tennessee River to improve river navigation and produce hydroelectric power. Construction work on the dam, which took place from 1905 to 1913, faced engineering challenges and leaks due to the broken and creviced limestone beneath the dam. The collection spans 1905-1968 and includes papers, reports, drawings and photographs related to the construction of the dam, as well as documents related to its maintenance in the decades following its completion.
NASM Space Suit Collection X-Ray Photography
This collection consists of x-ray film radiographs made in 2008 by conservator Roland H. "Ron" Cunningham, of the Museum Conservation Institute (MCI), Smithsonian Institution, of 17 artifacts in the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum (NASM) space suit collection, and derivative digital images created by photographer Mark Avino, Chief of Photographic Services, NASM Office of Communications, by scanning the radiographs on a flatbed graphic film scanner and compositing the resulting scans into digital image files.
