This collection contains 147 photographic prints and 43 postcards from East Africa (circa 1907-circa 1914), especially Kijobe, which depict the activities of the Africa Inland Mission; Theodore Roosevelt's safari in 1909; views of Nairobi, Mombasa, Port Said, Lake Victoria and other landscapes; and portraits of Maasai, Kikuyu, Kamba, Kavirondo, Akawba, Gikuyu, Somali and Swahili coast peoples. Missionaries pictured include Hetz, Hurlburt, and Wallace, who is listed as photographer on many of the prints. The collection also contains 3 paperback books, published by Africa Inland Mission, which describe the history of the organization and the experiences of its missionaries: Faster Beats the Drum (1978), Another Hand on Mine (1975) and Gardens of Miracles (1976).

The papers of California-born sculptor Robert Aitken measure 0.5 linear feet and date from circa 1900-1960. The collection primarily consists of photographs of Aitken in his studio and photographs of his sculpture including fountain figures, mausouleum doors, medallions, refliefs, and portrait busts. Also found is a photograph of Theodore Roosevelt at the dedication of the Navy Monument in Union Square, San Francisco, in 1902. The collection also includes one 1904 letter from Benjamin Wheeler to Robert Aitken thanking Aitken for a bust of George Washington, and scattered clippings and postcards reproducing works of art by Aitken.

White's correspondence, writings, and research, primarily related to J. Frank Currier and Abbott Handerson Thayer, and referencing Thomas Wilmer Dewing. Also found are the correspondence, writings, and research files of Nelson's father, Henry C. White, primarily relating to Dwight W. Tryon. Research files include artist correspondence, writings and notes, printed material, photographs of the artists, and photographs of artwork and exhibition installations.
The papers of painter and naturalist, Abbott Handerson Thayer, and the Thayer family date from 1851 to 1999, with the bulk of the material dating from 1881 to 1950, and measure 4.9 linear feet. Thayer's painting career, interest in concealing coloration (camouflage) in nature, and relationships with artists, patrons, family, and friends are documented through correspondence, writings, scattered legal and financial records, printed materials, and a scrapbook. Photographs are of Thayer, his family, studio, and friends, including artists. The collection also contains family papers created by his second wife, Emma Beach Thayer, his son Gerald, his daughters Mary and Gladys, and Gladys' husband David Reasoner, who managed Thayer's estate after his death.
