John E. Considine was in the United States Air Force from 1964 to 1969 during which time he was assigned to the 71st Aerial Refueling Squadron stationed at Dow Air Force Base, Maine. During 1967 and 1968, Considine was assigned to temporary duty at U-Tapao Royal Thai Navy Airfield and Takhli Royal Thai Air Force Base, Thailand. This collection consists of 199 cardboard mounted 35mm color slides of images taken by Considine during his service with the US Air Force in and around Takhli Royal Thai Air Force Base, Thailand; U-Tapao Royal Thai Navy Airfield, Thailand; and Dow Air Force Base, Maine; as well as images taken in flight over Laos and North Vietnam. The collection also includes some prints made from the slides as well as CDs of scans made from the slides by the donor.

In 1928, Australian aviator Sir Charles Kingsford-Smith and his crew completed the first transpacific flight in the Fokker F.VIIB-3m "Southern Cross." William B. Voortmeyer was a master maritime navigator who had developed many early aerial navigation systems, including a numerical signal code by which ships at sea were able to advise pilots of their position by hoisting numerical flags to indicate the distance to a destination. This collection consists of the 50.25 by 34 inch route map used by the crew of the Fokker F.VIIB-3m "Southern Cross" in 1928 with the route marked by William B. Voortmeyer.
