The Murals of Aztlán Film Production Records measures 5.1 linear feet and consists of film footage, sound recordings, and notes from the documentary produced by James Tartan during the exhibition Murals of Aztlán: the Street Painters of East Los Angeles at the Craft and Folk Art Museum, Los Angeles in 1981. This collection consists of correspondence, newspaper clippings, photographs, and motion picture film documenting the Seypelt-Kern flight. The material also includes Seypelt's aviation licenses and certificates, as well as photographs documenting his enlistment in the German army during World War I. The collection also contains material on the first westward transatlantic flight (1928), from Ireland to Labrador by 'Bremen', a Junkers W-33 monoplane piloted by Hermann Koehl, Baron Guenther von Huenefeld, and James Fitzmaurice. Scopitones are three minute long 16mm films that were viewed on a Scopitone machine, a jukebox-like player. A precursor to music videos, Scopitones -- both the films and the machines -- were popular in the United States from around 1962 to 1968. The films featured sets, costumes, and dancers in support of well-known performers singing a single song. The collection includes Scopitone films from the United States and Europe.
