The Smithsonian Institution Festival of American Folklife, held annually since 1967 on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., was renamed the Smithsonian Folklife Festival in 1998. The materials collected here document the planning, production, and execution of the annual Festival, produced by the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage (1999-present) and its predecessor offices (1967-1999). The Archival collections of the National Association of Civilian Conservation Corps Alumni (NACCCA) donated in 2006. The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), created as part of the New Deal legislation initiated by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1933, was a public work relief program for unemployed men designed to reduce high unemployment during the Great Depression. The CCC carried out a broad natural resource conservation program on national, state, and municipal lands from 1933 to 1942. This collection contains papers, photographs, and ephemera collected and created by alumni of the CCC and donated to the NACCCA archives.

A New York bookseller, Warshaw assembled this collection over nearly fifty years. The collection consists of archival materials assembled by National Museum of American History Curator William Lawrence Bird. The materials were used as background research for the publication of his book Holidays on Display (New York: Princeton Architectural Press, 2007), and as exhibit objects for the exhibit by the same name that opened shortly after the museum's architectural renovation (November 2009-September 2010). The materials include advertising and trade literature, especially for department stores and with emphasis on the display of toys; catalogs; photographs and slides; postcards; parade programs; design drawings; correspondence; stock certificates, and miscellaneous items relating to department stores and their displays, parades and the amusement industry.

The papers of New York editor and art critic Thomas Hess measure 10.0 linear feet and date from 1939 to 1978. The collection includes biographical materials, correspondence, extensive writings and notes, artists and subject files that also include recorded conversations with artists and others, printed materials, photographic materials, and artwork.

The Paul Hollister papers measure 9.4 linear feet and date from circa 1883 to 2004, with the bulk of the papers from 1947-1996. Biographical material and correspondence both personal and professional are included, in addition to project files documenting various writing, teaching and curatorial projects, as well as ongoing working relationships with various institutions. Also included are topical projects that overlapped with specific research interests, containing a considerable amount of research material. Writings by Paul Hollister include manuscript material spanning the breadth of his professional writing career, from his work as a columnist, to his articles on glass, as well as some works of fiction. Also included is a full manuscript of one of Hollister's books on glass paperweights. The published portion of this content is mirrored in the printed material series. The business records of Paul Hollister contain financial information about his household and collections, as well as his family's estate. Also included are records relating to Paul Hollister's art studio and an inventory of his paintings and other works of art in the form of index cards.
