The archive is comprised of the papers of the artist (his writings, notes, scores, plans and designs, photographs and assorted print ephemera), his library (books, magazines, trade catalogs, etc.), as well as three dimensional artifacts from his studio (objects, toys, televisions, radios, the artist's desk, etc.) and over 200 videotapes (the artist's single-channel videotapes, installation videotapes, and videotape records of performances and interviews).

Jet Propulsion Laboratory Publications Collection
bulk 1960-1974
This collection consists of publications issued by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory documenting JPL's work in jet and rocket propulsion, launch vehicle development, and planetary reconnaissance. Most of the material relates to work performed under NASA auspices, but significant material from Army- and Air Force-related research is also included.
Grant Proposals
These records document Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory (SAO) activities and projects, and consist of proposal, contract and grant files. Materials include proposals, quotations, and bids from contractors, equipment makers, and other vendors to provide services, equipment, and instruments for SAO.
The Research and Development (RAND) Corporation Videohistory Collection
The Smithsonian Videohistory Program, funded by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation from 1986 until 1992, used video in historical research.
