This collection consists of two copies of the DVD "Arts of the Monsoon," (2016) one standard and one Blu-ray. Produced in 2016 by the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art, the film portrays how the dhows, in sailing across the monsoon winds of he Indian Ocwean between Oman and East Africa, brought cross-cultural influences along the coastal areas of Sur, Salalah, and Zanzibar.

The collection consists of twenty slides taken at the Kibo Art Gallery, which was run by Tanzanian artist Elimo Njau. Ten of the slides were published/distributed by the Kibo Art Gallery and depict art objects. The other ten slides were photographed by Peace Corps volunteer Eloise Thompson and portray people at a workshop at the Kibo Art Gallery in Marangu in 1965, including artist Elimo Njau.

The collection consists of an album containing 104 photographic prints dating from circa 1946. The photographs depict British soliders and native police, landscape views, a Victory Day parade, and scenes of daily life in and around Freetown, Sierra Leone, and Accra, Achimota, Takoradi, Teshi and Tamale in Ghana. Also included are images of the Volta River, the Oburi (Aburi) Gardens near Accra, and Osu Castle (also known as Fort Christiansborg or Christiansborg Castle), the seat of government in Ghana.

This album contains postcards of religious sites and cultural/natural landscapes in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The postcards provide historical views of the city and names of churches and official buildings. The album binding was handmade by an Italian military official during the Ethiopian campaign in 1935-1936 and has a beautifully painted cover with the title Addis Abeba in Italian and Amharic, as well as an Italian coat of arms and official seal.

This album contains 57 photographic prints, dating from circa 1899-1900, depicting the indigenous peoples of the Belgian Congo (later known as Zaire and presently known as the Democratic Republic of the Congo). Subjects depicted include costumes, body arts (hairstyles and scarification), funerary rituals, weavers and blacksmiths. Culture groups represented in the collection include the Kasai, Kwango and Luba peoples.

A bound notebook of prints picturing a model of the royal palace at Babanki Tungo, West Cameroon. The accompanying caption on the inside of the first image reads, "The model represented in this photographic album is the royal palace at Babanki Tungo, West Cameroon. It was carved by Robert Toh, the royal craver, during 1954-55. The brass figurines were sculpted by Umaru Njasi, a brass-caster from Bamum. The photographs are by Evan G. Schneider and were taken in Southeastern Ohio. Mr. Schneider is also responsible for the printing. Gilbert D. Schneider Athens, Ohio - - 1968." The palace and figurines were also donated in 1979 to the Museum of African Art, now the National Museum of African Art (accession no. 79-1-1).

This collection contains 369 African postage stamps from the post-independence period (circa 1960s-1970s). The stamps depict African leaders, traditional African art and artists, cultural performances, flora and fauna, and prominent visitors to the continent, including Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Pope Paul VI. A majority of the stamps come from Ghana, Togo, Nigeria and Cote d'Ivoire. Other countries represented include Gabon, Mali, Cameroon, Tunisia, Zambia, Morocco, Dahomey (now Benin), Libya, Gambia, Somalia, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia, Zaire (formerly the Belgian Congo and now the Democratic Republic of the Congo), Upper Volta (now Burkina-Faso), Mauritius, South Africa, Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe), Uganda, Egypt, Sudan and the Comoros.

The collection contains 130 large format color transparencies, dating from 1968, of Ethiopian icons at the Institute of Ethiopian Studeis, Addis Ababa. The images were taken by Dr. Stanislaw Chojnacki and appear in his catalog publication Ethiopian Icons. The collection also includes 107 35mm color slides of the funeral of Emperor Haile Selassie I, taken by Dr. Chojnacki's colleague Dr. Paul Henze in 1975. At this time, the color slides are available for study purposes only.
