The Scurlock photographic studio was a fixture in the Shaw area of Washington, DC from 1911 to 1994, and encompassed two generations of photographers, Addison N. Scurlock (1883-1964) and his sons George H. (1920- 2005) and Robert S. (1916-1994). Series 10 documents the administrative activities of the school and the work of its students. Herbert Mercer served with the United Kingdom's Royal Flying Corps (Royal Air Force) from 1916 until 1945, and was stationed in Baghdad, Iraq, in the early 1920s. While there, he photographed a variety of aircraft that were either stationed in Iraq or Egypt or landing there for refueling. This collection contains eleven photographs taken by Mercer in Iraq and Egypt.

This collection of 264 negatives, with corresponding contact prints, concerns the 2nd Bomb Group at Langley Field, Virginia. These images were shot to aid the filming of "Test Pilot," which starred Clark Gable. The images include shots of uniforms, buildings at Langley Field, Boeing B-17 bombers and images of Clark Gable's double for this film.
