This collection contains two scrapbooks and the personal papers of Dr. Paul Studenski, an early aviator who flew from 1910-1913. Born in St. Petersburg, Studenski studied law and medicine before earning the 292nd license from L'Aero Club de France. He immigrated to the United States in 1911 and exercised his prodigious flying skills as instructor, test pilot and exhibition pilot before retiring from flying to distinguish himself in the fields of economics and government service.

David Challinor served the Smithsonian Institution in an official capacity for 30 years, eventually becoming the assistant secretary to Sidney Dillon Ripley. Joan R. Challinor became an historian and advocate of library sciences and education. In 1956, however, they were busy with their young family. David only returned to university for graduate school in 1957, in his late 30s. They both went on to have successful careers and active family lives. This collection includes 7 home movie films that document thte Challinor family.

Collection consists of photographic images of the Vitone family in Akron, Ohio and other locations, as part of an ongoing photographic document called "Family Records." This is an ongoing portrait project which for the past 20 years has used large-format negatives to document families living around the Rust Belt City of Akron, Ohio, former home to the country's major rubber and tire producers. These portraits offer personal yet unsentimental views of the subjects finding purpose and evolving family structures in these largely blue-collar communities that at times wrestle with job insecurity and problems accompanying alcohol and opioid use.
